A Visit from Pace the Turtle
Told by Safe Pace Lift LLC
It started like any other morning. I had my coffee in hand, reviewing notes for my next forklift safety
training. Everything felt routine -- until it didn't.
That's when I saw him. Out of the corner of my eye, a turtle -- yes, a turtle -- walked in. Hard hat, safety vest, clipboard and all.
I almost dropped my mug.
"Are you the one?" he asked.
"The one?" I replied.
He nodded solemnly. "The one who understands the pace of safety. The one who can teach others
how to slow down and think smart around forklifts." He nodded solemnly. "The one who understands the pace of safety. The one who can teach others
how to slow down and think smart around forklifts."
That's when he introduced himself. "I'm Pace," he said proudly. "Safety Ambassador for Safe Pace
Lift."
Then he unrolled a tiny map -- warehouse zones, blind spots, danger zones all marked with tiny
turtle tracks.
"There's a safety crisis," he said. "Corners are being cut. Machines aren't being inspected.
Operators are speeding through their work. Lives are at risk."
He looked up at me. "I've done what I can in the turtle world. But here, I need a partner. Someone
human. Someone who knows the way."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. But deep down, I knew he was right.
"Alright, Pace," I said. "Let's save some lives."
Since then, Pace and I have been spreading the message together -- training operators, inspecting
machines, and proving every day that safety isn't fast -- it's focused.
Together, we move at the Safe Pace.
